Sydney, August 18: A woman in Sydney, Australia spotted a three-meter python while shopping in a supermarket. The woman found the giant reptile in the herbs and spices section of her local store. In a video shared on Facebook, the python can be seen coming off the shelf. As the reptile crept down the aisle, bottles of condiments and spices fell. The woman, Helaina Alati was cited by 7NEWS.com.au saying that she was looking around in the shelves of the Woolies in Glenorie in Sydney when she made the surprising discovery of the python.

The woman, a former volunteer snake catcher, caught the snake very calmly and released it into the nearby bush. She said she was glad she had found it, otherwise most people would have panicked. Speaking to the local news agency, the woman said: “I was sailing and turned to my left and he was out and his face was about eight inches from mine, just looking at me.” She added, saying, “It was almost like he was asking me to take him outside.” Snake cannibalism: 4ft long cobra rescued after swallowing another 3ft long cobra in Balakati village in Odisha (see photos).

The report quoted the Woolworths spokesperson as confirming that the matter had been considered and dealt with and that team members had cordoned off the area for the safety of customers. The official said a snake catcher removed the python and released it safely into the bushes shortly after it was spotted in the store.
