Aung La Nsang was once the holder of the ONE two-division championship title. Both of his championship belts were removed by one man, Reiner de Ridder.
The first time the two fighters faced each other in the cage was in October 2020. In that fight, Nsang was subjected in the first round with a choke in the back and lost the middleweight title. The victory also ended Nsang’s seven-game winning streak.
Seven months later, Nsang met De Ridder again in ONE on TNT 4. This time around, the fight lasted five full rounds and “The Burmese Phyton†lost their light heavyweight title, with the judges awarding a victory by unanimous decision to his Dutch counterpart. .
Since then, Nsang has returned to the ONE Championship cage and found his way back to victory by knocking out Leandro Ataides in July. The former champion was challenged by Yushin Okami and the two fighters verbally agreed on social media to meet soon after.
ONE Championship has yet to formalize the fight, but beyond that, Nsang believes he deserves a rematch against De Ridder.
In a recent interview, Nsang said this:
“In the history of ONE Championship, I am one of the most dominant champions. I wish they would give me revenge. Even though he’s been defeated twice and stripped of his belts, Nsang feels no hatred towards De Ridder. He admits to losing both fights and is looking at the silver lining to improve his craft.
