Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley: Main Event Start Time, Watch Online or Stream

Jake Paul will fight Tyron Woodley on August 28th.

Another month, another Paul Brother fight. Already in June, YouTuber Logan Paul fought boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr.in what was hardly the fight of the century. Now, on August 29th, Logan Paul’s brother, another YouTuber Jake Paul will fight mixed martial artist Tyron Woodley. And if you need a bizarre reason to watch, the loser must be tattooed proclaim their love for the winner of the fight. What in the name of Mike Tyson’s face tattoo is going on here, anyway? We’ll explain.

How did it happen?

The Paul brothers, Logan and Jake, are both YouTubers who turned into boxers, which seems like a strange career path, but it is what it is. For one thing, they’re young. Jake Paul is only 24 and Logan Paul is 26 so they have the youth on their side and their YouTube cash allows them to do whatever they want with their free time. And what they seem to want is to beat up people and get beat up for it.

These fights are not always for the record books, but for the bank books. (Logan Paul’s fight in June with 44-year-old Mayweather was just a show.) While Jake Paul has played three professional fights and won all of them, his opponents weren’t professional boxers in their prime. Paul hit YouTuber AnEsonGib, former professional basketball player Nate Robinson, and retired MMA fighter Ben Askren (the the last one was quick). And all of the Paul brothers’ fights make headlines and gossip, adding to their fame and bank balances.

Woodley was talking about Jake Paul at the Askren fight, and that led to the planned Paul Woodley fight. “The easiest fight of my career and the biggest wallet of my career in one night,” said Woodley of the Paul match. according to ESPN. “Basically, they brought me to take out the trash.”

When is the fight?

Mark your calendar for August 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT. There will be an undercard fight ahead of the big event that will be held in Paul’s hometown of Cleveland at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

So watch

The fight will aired on Showtime pay-per-viewwhich means you don’t have to be a regular Showtime subscriber to pay for and watch the fight. The price has yet to be announced but is expected to be around $ 50. Keep an eye out The fighting side of Showtimethat should finally be updated on how to buy the fight. We’ll add the link here as well once it’s live.

There will also be a live audience at the Cleveland Arena. Tickets start at $ 10 and go on sale to the public on July 22nd at 10 a.m. ET.

Combat weight, size, more stats

Fighters will weigh 190 pounds, which is what Paul weighed when he defeated Ben Askren in a whopping crowd in April two minute fight. Woodley fought 170 pounds in the UFC.

Paul is at 6-foot-1 and Woodley is at 5-foot-9. Paul is listed with a 76-inch reach to Woodley’s 74-inch reach.

The fighters will wear 10-ounce gloves and fight in a 20×20 ring, reports ESPN. The fight is scheduled for eight rounds.

Second fight? TBA …

Whatever the outcome, Woodley already believes that one fight won’t be enough.

“We’ll probably fight twice to be honest” he said.

Paul isn’t so sure about this second fight.

“I won’t fight Woodley after I beat him,” said Paul. according to the LA Times. “There’s no point, you know. I’m going to beat him down by force so there won’t be a second fight.”

Tattoo yourself

The two fighters have one creepy bet ride on the result. If Paul loses he has to get an “I love Tyron Woodley” tattoo somewhere, and if Woodley loses he has to get an “I love Jake Paul” tattoo. (Both fighters are already tattooed, so another one won’t exactly be a new concept.)

Whoever gets the tattoo, you just know that there will be plenty of publicity for the actual tattooing itself, not to mention photos of the embarrassing final product. (Clever tattooists in the Paul Woodley Circle are probably already thinking about how to cover up or disguise the message at some point.)

There’s another fight on Showtimes’ card for the night. Featherweight world champion Amanda Serrano (40-1-1) takes on super bantamweight world champion, Yamileth Mercado, who is 18-2-0.

“Not many people want to fight me. It’s going to be a great fight,” said Serrano. according to World Boxing News.

Mercado said she started her featherweight career before switching to bantamweight and is looking forward to fighting in her old weight class again.

“We’re going to leave everything in the ring and the ladies are going to steal the show,” she said, according to the World Boxing News report.

Who is Jake Paul?

Jake Paul is the younger of the two Paul brothers, and in addition to his internet videos, he’s known for playing Dirk Mann on the Disney Channel show Bizaardvark. He started his boxing career in 2018 and has won all of his three professional fights.

Like his brother, he is controversial. In July 2020, he made headlines for throw a huge party in Calabasas, California, in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. Asked about the party, he told a reporter for The Daily Beast that COVID-19 was a hoax, then later denied saying itwhich resulted in the reporter posting audio evidence that Paul made the hoax comments. In the same interview, Paul also claimed98% of the messages are fake ”, falsely claiming that“ health professionals ”say that masks do nothing to protect against the virus.

He’s not just making headlines at his own events. Jake Paul’s brother Logan fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. in June, and in May Jake Paul spoke about the fighter and at a promotional event for the fight Grabbed Mayweather’s hat. He then started selling black baseball caps with the imprint “Gotcha Hat”.

Who is Tyron Woodley?

Woodley says this might be his first boxing match, but it won’t be his last.
