Health

On December 27, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended a shorter isolation period for people who tested positive for COVID-19. The website states, “Given current knowledge of COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, CDC is reducing the recommended time for public isolation. People with COVID-19 should isolate themselves for 5 days, and if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms resolve (24 hours with no fever) then wear a mask for 5 days when they are around others to reduce the risk of developing a To minimize infection of those they encounter. The change is motivated by scientific evidence that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs in the early course of the disease, generally in the 1-2 days before symptoms appear and in the 2-3 days after. “

They also recommend a shorter quarantine period for those exposed to COVID-19 “5 days followed by strict mask use for another 5 days”.
