Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, launched the MyParkings app on Thursday, a unique initiative that allows people to book parking spaces online in areas under the jurisdiction of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC).

With the aim of addressing the problem of overloading when parking vehicles, the app provides information on the total capacity of the vehicles to be parked, the parking spaces used and the available parking spaces in each parking space. It was developed by Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL). It should be noted that BECIL is the implementing authority for app-based intelligent parking systems within the remit of SDMC.

When introducing the app, Anurag Thakur said that the introduction of the “MyParking†app would simplify the booking process for parking spaces, as citizens can see and even book the availability of parking spaces remotely.

“Therefore, this mobile app would offer the citizens of Delhi a completely new parking experience. By using this smart parking app, which is cashless and paperless in transaction mode, tons of paper (parking tickets are currently being issued on paper) “will be saved every day. This in turn will indirectly save trees, which will lead to a reduction in pollution, “he added.

SDMC Mayor Mukesh Suryan said there were inquiries from people for information on the total capacity of vehicles to be parked and the parking space used and available.

“In addition, consumers often request cashless payment for parking fees because they have difficulty paying in cash. With today’s high tech technology and in order to provide accurate jurisdiction parking users, it is extremely important to have this app available, “added Suryan.

The SDMC operates 145 surface parking spaces that span all of its four zones, as well as six multi-level parking lots and two automated parking lots. BECIL bears the complete costs for the development and maintenance of the app, the capital costs of the server and the associated hardware and software.

The ‘MyParking’ app will also be integrated into the Vahan app. FASTag, E-Challan and other government initiatives. In addition, BECIL will set up and operate a special call center for citizens as a customer care unit to answer their questions and problems related to the use of the app. The call center also takes care of complaints and complaints.

BECIL only charges a percentage of parking fees from consumers who use the BECIL app and the web / tech platforms to pay parking fees. The app will be available to download for free on Android and iOS platforms.
